Introduction to the Class.

WHAT: Semester One: Shared Inquiry

Semester Two: Film School

Go over the Shared Inquiry method step by step.

Step One: Writing about soemthing gets you thinking aboutthe topic and in the right frame of mind.

Students do pre-writing task and share out. Read students an example of a response and encourage them to use thier best ideas, examples and formal style. However, remind students that this is not a writing class per se, but an "idea" class.

 

 

Shared Inquiry Method Step Two: Reading something twice and how to take notes.

Practice reading the first selection twice. Second time students take notes.

 

 

 

Shared Inquiry Method Step Three: Listening and Contributing. Look over the notes and do close analysis of selections. Practice listening and waiting your turn. Practice politely disagreeing - debate method.

 

 

 

Go over this week's Shared Inquiry methods step by step again for the new students.
